Many of the homes in the San Antonio area are adapted Prairie Style homes.  These homes feature extended low rooms with shallow sloping roofs, which are indicative of a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design.  Clean straight lines and low standing chimneys and overhangs are very typical.  The siding is usually a mixture of long stretched bricks or square cut stone with stucco above.  The transition from outside to inside begins with long stretching windows that something Frank brought that was new to western homes.  Inside is decorated with straight lines, no arches, and most always a clear stained oak for trim, doors, crown molding and cabinets.  Tile floors along with oak wood floors are again installed with straight lines and little or no details.  Rooms are very square and ceilings are always flat with minor ceiling details.  Outdoor spaces use straight-line pools with lots of rock and natural grass landscaping.
